Description

STIAS offers a residential setting in Stellenbosch for original research and artistic work. The first-semester 2028 call is a fellowship rather than admission to a degree. Individual and team proposals are assessed for excellence, innovation, interdisciplinary exchange, relevance and feasibility. Applicants explain both their intended outputs and their contribution to the institute’s intellectual community. Residents take part in fellows’ seminars and communal activities while pursuing the proposed project. Eligibility: Original research or artistic project feasible during residence. No general nationality or discipline restriction for individual/team fellowships. Funding: Residential research support, accommodation and logistical assistance; travel and stipend arrangements follow the awarded fellowship conditions. Submission: Choose the appropriate individual, team or artist form. Deadline: 31 October 2026. Choose the appropriate individual, team or artist form. Specify dates, affiliation, summary and objectives.
