The DAAD offers doctoral scholarships allowing international researchers to complete a full PhD in Germany, either as an individual project or through a structured programme. Funding covers studies for up to four years, with a monthly allowance of 1,400 euros, as well as support for research, housing and family. Applicants must hold a Master’s degree obtained less than six years ago and demonstrate language skills suited to their project. Selection is based on academic excellence, the quality of the research proposal and the applicant’s potential. Complete applications must be submitted only through the DAAD online portal before 24 September 2026. A clear research proposal and prior contact with a supervisor strengthen the application, and because the review is competitive and covers up to four years of funding, a well-defined project with clear milestones makes a real difference.
