The GEF SGP CSO Challenge supports civil society organisations that offer concrete, already tested solutions to environmental challenges. Funded projects address ecosystem management, sustainable agriculture, low-carbon energy, waste management and urban solutions. Beyond funding, awardees receive technical support and capacity-building opportunities to scale up. Grants can reach 300,000 USD for projects of up to 24 months. The programme targets NGOs, associations, cooperatives and community networks whose initiative has already shown early results at small scale. Applications start by creating an account on the official platform, then submitting a concept note describing the problem, the solution and the expected impact, before 31 July 2026. Selection favours organisations that can demonstrate measurable results and a credible plan to expand their impact, and shortlisted applicants may be invited to develop a full proposal with a detailed budget before the final decision.
