The U.S. Helsinki Commission is accepting applications for its Fall 2026 Max Kampelman Fellowships. Selected fellows work in person at the Commission’s Washington office for three months and are expected to complete 30 hours each week. Applicants may choose a policy or communications track. Policy fellows research military, economic, environmental, and human rights issues across the OSCE region and support hearings, briefings, delegations, and publications. Communications fellows contribute to media outreach, website content, social media, public events, and other institutional communications projects. Every fellow is also expected to prepare at least one article for possible publication on the Commission website. The position pays 27 US dollars per hour and includes professional development and networking with senior Commission staff. The program primarily accepts current graduate students, recent undergraduate graduates whose fellowship would begin within one year of graduation, and, in exceptional cases, undergraduates with previous internship experience. Federal eligibility rules restrict applicants to US citizens and specified categories of permanent residents or protected persons described in the official notice. Applications must be emailed to [email protected] and include a brief cover letter, a resume of no more than two pages, and a writing sample of no more than three pages. Communications candidates may add a portfolio. Complete applications are due July 29, 2026.
