The International Downtown Association and American Express are supporting independent restaurants across fifteen cities. Cafés, bars and pubs serving food may also qualify. Selected businesses in Paris, Barcelona and Milan can receive EUR 12,500 each, while award amounts and the number of recipients vary in other locations, including Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom and Australia. Applicants must operate a for-profit establishment that opened before September 1, 2025 and meets the revenue threshold specified for its country. Franchises with more than five locations are excluded. Recipients must use the grant within five months to develop their business and strengthen its local contribution. Start with the country-specific application and read its rules on supporting documents and permitted spending. This is a location-restricted business grant rather than funding for opening a restaurant anywhere. Applications close on November 16, 2026 at 11:59 p.m. Eastern Time, equivalent to November 17 at 04:59 UTC.
