Description

JournalismAI at the London School of Economics is offering a five-week online Strategy Lab for professionals in African newsrooms. Supported by Google, the programme helps participants make deliberate editorial decisions about artificial intelligence. Sessions cover core concepts, evaluation of tools, workflows, generative AI and practical work grounded in the needs of each participant’s news organisation. The programme is free and has up to twenty places. Applicants must be employed by or formally affiliated with a news organisation, be based in Africa and be fluent in English. Freelancers without the required affiliation are not eligible. Programming skills are not required. Expect around five hours each week, including Tuesday presentations, Thursday workshops and individual assignments. Participation in every session is compulsory. The application requires a letter of organisational commitment from the employer, and closes at 23:59 GMT on 29 November 2026. The published module schedule begins on 26 January 2027, so applicants should secure their organisation’s support for those commitments.
