Media Defence, with the Kennedy Human Rights Center and Vuka, runs a three-day intensive workshop in Nairobi for Sub-Saharan African lawyers who litigate, or want to litigate, human rights cases. The programme focuses on freedom of expression, freedom of association and assembly, the protection of journalists and defenders, and digital rights. Participants work on their own cases with experienced practitioners, exchange procedural strategies and build a regional litigation network. The workshop takes place from 2 to 4 October 2026. Selection is rolling and applying early is advised. Each applicant presents a real case or a litigation project they want to move forward. The programme is fully funded: return travel, accommodation, airport transfers, visa fee reimbursement and per diem are covered. Applications are submitted through the official online form before 31 July 2026.
