Description

The YSEALI Academic Fellowship is a five-week exchange in the United States sponsored by the US Department of State. Spring and autumn 2027 cohorts bring together young people from eligible Southeast Asian countries and Timor-Leste to develop leadership skills and explore key public-interest themes. The programme combines academic engagement with exposure to communities and institutions in the host country. It is intended for current university students and recent graduates who can connect the experience with their regional engagement. Applicants create an account and submit their materials through the official Submittable platform. The current call excludes applicants from Burma and Laos, so the country list for this intake must take precedence over older announcements. Eligibility : Eligible university students and recent graduates from the countries listed in the current YSEALI call, including Timor-Leste. Funding : Selected fellows receive funding for programme travel, visa arrangements and basic living expenses during the exchange. Application deadline : 2026-10-12.
