The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) is launching the 9th edition of its “Next Generation Investigative Journalism” fellowship, a three-month residential program that trains the next generation of investigative journalists in Ghana. From September through November 2026, ten selected young journalists will join the MFWA newsroom to learn, alongside experienced mentors, about data journalism, fact-checking, freedom of information laws, and investigations into corruption and accountability. The program combines intensive training, daily mentoring, and hands-on reporting: each fellow receives editorial guidance and financial support to conduct and publish their own investigations. A monthly stipend covers the duration of the residency, and a certificate is awarded upon completion of the program. The call for applications is open to Ghanaians only: recent journalism graduates, early-career journalists, and young professionals passionate about investigative journalism. Applications from women and those from regions outside Greater Accra are particularly encouraged, as the MFWA seeks to strengthen local journalism throughout the country. Applications must be submitted by email by July 30, 2026: a cover letter of no more than 400 words, two published articles or posts, a resume with two references, and a letter of consent from the employer for candidates currently employed. This is a concrete opportunity to gain hands-on experience in investigative journalism at one of West Africa’s most respected media organizations.
