Description

The GitLab Foundation supports organisations that change employer practices so jobs in growing sectors lead to sustained economic mobility. Priority areas include clean energy, infrastructure and advanced manufacturing. Projects may test structured career pathways, employer-funded training, stronger worker supports or other measurable workplace innovations that improve retention, advancement and long-term earnings. Eligible applicants are US-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organisations, or entities working through a fiscal sponsor, with an active employer, union or industry-association partner. Flexible grants may reach $500,000 over one or two years. The process begins with a concept note due by 12 August 2026; only shortlisted teams will be invited to submit a full proposal. A competitive concept should identify the employer practice to be changed, the expected outcomes for workers, the role of the operating partner and a credible learning and measurement approach.
